Tags
Tags help you organize and categorize your interactions, contacts, and tasks in BlaBlaNote. Create a flexible organizational system that fits your workflow.
Overview
The tagging system allows you to:
- Categorize items across different types
- Create custom organizational structures
- Find related content quickly
- Filter views by tag
- Build a personal taxonomy
Creating Tags
From an Interaction
- Open an interaction
- Click Add Tag in the sidebar
- Type a new tag name
- Press Enter to create
From a Contact
- Open a contact
- Scroll to Tags section
- Click Add Tag
- Enter tag name or select existing
From the Tags Manager
- Go to Settings > Tags (if available)
- Click Create Tag
- Enter tag name
- Optionally set a color
- Save
Using Tags
Adding Tags to Items
Interactions:
- Open interaction
- Click tag area in sidebar
- Select or create tags
Contacts:
- Open contact profile
- Find Tags section
- Add relevant tags
Tasks:
- Open task details
- Add tags as labels
Removing Tags
- Find the tag on the item
- Click the X on the tag
- Tag is removed from that item only
Bulk Tagging
For multiple items:
- Select multiple interactions/contacts
- Click Bulk Actions
- Choose Add Tag
- Select tag to apply

Tag Hierarchy Suggestions
While BlaBlaNote uses flat tags, you can create hierarchy through naming:

Filter by Tag
- Go to Interactions, Contacts, or Tasks
- Click Filter
- Select Tags
- Choose one or more tags
- View filtered results
Search with Tags
In the search bar:
- Type

- Quick access in tag selector
- Suggested when adding tags

Managing Tags
Viewing All Tags
- Go to any list view (Interactions, Contacts, Tasks)
- Open the filter panel
- See all available tags
- View count of items per tag
Renaming Tags
Currently, tags cannot be directly renamed. To change a tag name:
- Create the new tag
- Apply new tag to relevant items
- Remove old tag from items
- Delete old tag if desired
Deleting Tags
- Remove tag from all items using it
- Tag will no longer appear in suggestions
- Unused tags are cleaned up automatically
Merging Tags
To combine duplicate or similar tags:
- Decide which tag name to keep
- Add the keeper tag to all relevant items
- Remove the deprecated tag
- Items now unified under one tag
Best Practices
Be Consistent
- Use the same tag format throughout
- Decide on singular vs plural (client vs clients)
- Standardize capitalization
- Document your tagging system
Keep It Simple
- Start with few tags, expand as needed
- Avoid overly specific tags
- Merge similar tags periodically
- Delete unused tags

- Audit tags monthly
- Merge duplicates
- Remove unused tags
- Update naming as needed
Tag Thoughtfully
- Don't over-tag (3-5 tags per item is usually enough)
- Tag immediately when creating items
- Consider future searchability
- Think about how you'll look for this later
Tips
Quick Tagging
Type the first few letters of a tag name to filter suggestions. Press Enter to add the highlighted tag quickly.
Tag Everything
Consistent tagging pays off over time. Make it a habit to tag new items immediately.
Use Tags with Search
Combine tag filters with text search for powerful queries. Example: Find all interactions tagged "client:acme" that mention "pricing".
